The day would have been like any other, if he hadn't have heard it. He had been walking with Merida, sweet sweet Merida, and enjoying her company. She had been one of the first horses he'd met being on Earth, and she had stuck by him throughout his time there. She didn't question anything about his past or the bizarre lilac rune on his body; she was just herself, and that was enough for him. He was halfway through describing to her one of the planets he'd visited before he was abandoned on Earth, and then he heard it. It was a slight noise, one no other creature would have been able to hear, but it shook his very bones to hear it. He stopped dead and listened, his entire body freezing. It was a scream, so soft that it sounded more like a whisper, but he knew what it was. Kesi. She was regenerating, somewhere far away, and she needed him. His rune began to glow vividly and he felt his swirls begin to throb under the surface of his skin. His eyes widened. She was coming for him. He could feel it.
"Farasi? What is it?" Merida asked, stopping herself to watch the stallion with concern.
"Someone's coming close", he replied softly. "Someone who's been gone a long time."

Hoooo, so I bet you won't notice who this guy is without his trademark swirls |D This is Farasi, believe it or not, in his neutral form. All Time Steeds have this form where their swirls vanish and they are reduced to a pretty average looking horse, save for their rune. However they only do that when they're under a great deal of stress and need to in a state of dire emergency. In Farasi's case, Kesi put him back on Earth and set him free after the Time War out of fear for his safety as the last of the Time Steeds (or so she thinks) and forced him to engage this 'neutral' part of his biology.

It is on Earth that he meets Merida, and Merida is the mother of Boeshane, Farasi's only son She met him as a very young, inexperienced yearling and stuck close to him. She loved to hear him talk about his life away from the world she knew, but never pushed him for tales about the woman she knew he shared his travels with. The only thing she really wanted in life was a foal, and Farasi granted her wish. Unfortunately, due to complications in the birth of Boe, Merida dies whilst giving birth. Farasi was devastated and feels responsible as he wasn't there at the time; Kesi took him back for a single 'mission' of sorts. It is this reason that prompts him to persuade Kesi to bottlefeed the weak and gangly colt.

Sad story for this pair, but I still think that Farasi looks rather lovely in his neutral form!
